the finest, for me to continue the tradition of my grandma.
this was a surprise gift someone sent me with an ebay purchase, just because she thought I'd like it...how sweet... and how right she was...
This is actually jet black though the image would have you belive otherwise. It was intended as a furnishing fabric so somehow it has this slubbed relief pattern on the front but is completely flat on the reverse.
I think it will be great for a skirt, or messenger or weekender bag (when I finally learn how to make weekender bags - its something that's been playing out in my head for a long time, just because I like to make my own patterns - otherwise I'd be straight over to Amy Butler's version..)
gorgeous linen cotton, this picture really doesn't do the colours justice, they're so sunshiney and springtime in real life, very 1950s
not sure what this is exactly, maybe a cotton / nylon mix, but I just know the colours are beautiful like a calm rippling springtime sea...
cool dotty pattern, groovy colours, 1970s maybe?
thinking it would be good for purse, bag or little capped sleeves on a top, or some kind of frill on a skirt, or something
12 pieces of felt, 2 types of nylon wire (1 clear, 1 green), 1 hoop, 1 packet of canes, 1 pack of press studs / snaps, 1 tube of fabric glue, 1 roll of glue dots and a GORGEOUS vintage silk scarf.
happy days...
1 yard 100% cotton
bags? purses? lining? details on skirts? folded up in a cupboard with all the other fabric I'm still deciding how to use?...
Mum thinks this came from Mrs Shaw's old button box. Mrs Shaw was the old old lady we used to visit when I was 5 or so. In fact she was an old old lady when mum used to visit her when she was 5 or so too!
mother of pearl, shell, black and taupe vintage buttons from mum's old button box
vintage red and white mod 1960s buttons with 1 small 1970s red and 1 small 1980s whirly button
Two tan suede buttons from 1960s with some large and small black plaid buttons from c1920s Great-Grandmother's coat.
I love these buttons, freshly raided from mum's button box which I've had my eye on since being a little girl. Finally they're mine! Thanks mum.
From a farmer at a craft fair (well, from mum's button box - but that's where she got them)
ooh its so squidgy and quilted, this is a gorgeous and sumptous piece of fabric - for cushions really but its so squashy I thought it'd make a great tote or weekender bag. if you look closely you'll see it has a subtle rose pattern stitched into it, and what doesn't really show here is that its multi-tonal somewhere between bronze and gold.
not a very big piece, but gorgeous non the less - I think this will grow up to be a skirt one day
one from the bargain box, some lovely furnishing fabric which may end up as a bag, or possibly as a blind in the baby's room
31 Jan. I found this lovely Japanese bird fabric in a kitchenware shop. No idea what I'll do with it but the colours and pattern were too lovely to resist.
27 Jan. This is my favourite of recent fabric buys, only a small piece but it will make a stunning tote or weekender bag. I just love the colours and pattern. the leaves are a raised velvet.
18 Jan. Oh happy happy joy joy - some more fabric came today from mr ebay. I love the blue one with daisies but have absolutely no idea what to make with it, I was thinking a skirt but there's not quite enough. Maybe it could do for the front of a skirt, or the front of a top. or a bag. or a girl's sundress. or a pointy kitty. any other suggestions?
16 Jan. These are a selection of the fabrics I'm thinking about to make baby a patchwork blanket. Maybe won't use them all but there are so many gorgeous ones to choose from! Some are brand new, some Liberty prints, a vintage Laura Ashley, some leftover bridal satin - all sorts of things.
