It's getting serious, I have bought some more fabric without sewing anything from the last 5 or more batches yet. I am turning into my mother, who has rooms full of wool she bought 'just in case' or 'because it was such a bargain' or 'it's so lovely I know I'll use it for something'... the same is happening with textiles in my life.
We just bought some new wall to wall shelves, in part just to accommodate some of the yards and yards amassing (though in fairness also because I'm having to move everything out of my sewing room to turn it into baby's room so it had to go somewhere.)
But how could I not? These were all ends of rolls that are normally £16-£40 / metre, in a bargain box for £1-£4 per piece, varying from 1-2 metres. Lovely for bags or skirt panels, or cushions (we have too many already so I'm not allowed to make them for myself).
If you like the look of any let me know, they'll be sitting on the shelf for a while so if you'd like something making up to your own styling now's the chance! This one has quite a long repeat which along with the weight of the fabric makes me think it would make a really lovely skirtElsewhere in the world I have just got back from working in London for the week and am shattered. The work was intensive but my colleagues were great fun, and the evenings were lovely catching up with family and old friends.
At last I finally jumped aboard the London Eye having never made it during the 3 years I lived in London - oops! It was magical. I was lucky enough to be staying right next to it on the South Bank, with an inspiring 15 minute walk to work each day across the river and around the Houses of P arliament. Thanks to my brother for his fab photos by the way - amazing what you can do with mobile phones these days!
But there's nothing like coming home to your own bed again (and a loaf of home made bread courtesy of my lovely hubby).
