How stunning is this vintage toy solider? By Danish designer Kay Bojesen in the 1950s, this hand painted wooden chap is one of a series of Danish Royal Guards. Bojesen is probably most well known for the adorable design classic monkey shown below.

Neither comes cheap but the soldier is slightly less of a punch to the pocket and is available *here* on etsy. Though not for long I imagine.

I don't often make it to Etsy's front page so it's always a treat when it happens. That's my brooch, top line, second left.

Since I thought some of the other items in the treasury (ie Etsy's version of a shop window) were also rather lovely, I thought I'd share it in full. Some great colours and textures and a good mix of media.

Happy Mother's Day.
I spent yesterday baking, ready for a mother's day tea party with my boys and friend and her little girl.
Here's to mothers, grandmothers and anyone else doing a mum's job (men included), past and present.

You might remember me admiring *this* gorgeous bunny. Not least for it's understated, subtle, appearance. So I bought the pattern and set about my first attempt at amigurumi.

Ahem. As you'll see my attempt was slightly less understated and subtle! really I was using up remnants of yarn leftover from two baby blankets so it is what it is...

Also my local haberdashers didn't have any of those beautiful pure black plush eyes and I just couldn't wait for any through the post so we settled for Manchester's finest alternative.

But all in all for a first attempt I'm actually pretty pleased. And since its was a mere six rows in, toddlerboy took one look and said his name is Sandy and claimed it as his own. So it's well loved no matter what. Just as well really.
