I manage to keep the addiction in check and have 5 sewing books and one crochet book.
Until now. I wanted to find some clean, simple tops to make to go with the skirts I've been whipping up.
As is always the way, you can never find one book that has all the ideas you like and none you don't. So after hours of mulling several over I settled on three (for now). Goodness knows how long they'll take to arrive but worth the wait.
If you've never used these don't be too scared. If you have a little sewing knowledge you can work everything out from the images which are very clear.
Do be careful with the sizing though. Some books go up to a Japanese size Large but in UK terms that's a 34" bust - so around a size 10-12.
You can work out the pattern of how measurements increase so it should be relatively straight forward to scale them up on your scanner or a photocopier.
Also be aware that the female Japanese figure is often proportioned differently to British women. If you have a more boyish figure you should be ok but for those of us with more curves think about which patterns to choose. All the ones I bought aren't fitted anyway but it is something to bear in mind.
Completely by accident I've bought almost all mine from the same place so if you're looking try Pompadour on etsy or ebay.
So next up - find a couple of metres of fabric and wait for the postie...
